To use, knead a small amount of fondant or gum paste until smooth, dust with cornstarch, then press it into the mould (do not dust the mould itself, as this will result in a loss of detail). Pop the moulded fondant or gum paste out by gently holding the mould with your thumbs on top and fingers on the bottom of the mould and flexing it out and up. For deep or highly-detailed moulds, place the filled mould into the refrigerator or freezer for 15 - 30 minutes to allow the fondant or gum paste to set firm and to make for easy de-moulding
NOTE: Cavity dimensions (where noted) are approximate and generally refer to the dimensions of the cavity opening; the product obtained from the mould may be smaller or larger than the dimensions noted, depending on the shape and style of the cavity

I bought this mold from a cake decorating company raher than from Amazon, but thought a review might save someone else making the same mistake here. The mold is a disaster, to be blunt. The snowflakes are approximately the thickness of 2 sheets of paper; just barely incised into the top of an extremely wiggly blue block of silicone, they are far far too shallow to actually fill with anything unless you have the dexterity --and the filling paste-- of someone not from Earth. There is a reason the picture shows only a bunch of blue "already molded" snowflakes -- the block cavities are so slight their bottom detail can't even be clearly seen by a near-sighted person holding them in their hand! In fact, two of the "snowflakes" are SO thin horizontally as well as SO slight vertically that I doubt ANYONE could get even the finest decorating paste to work--you must literally bend the mold back and forth to see that the little thin line is actually a slight cut into the surface of the silicone!!!They are so prettily detailed in the advertising it makes any snowflake lover want to run right out and grab the mold. I can't understand why the company did such a poor job with them, either, I had ordered another mold of other things at the same time and those are the usual candy sized cavities, good for many uses. The snowflake mold is merely a gigantic disappointment.

I also purchased this mold and had real trouble with it. I researched my problems with using this mold on the internet. This wonderful lady told me to put a tiny bit of crisco on the fondant ball before I pushed it in the mold. The crisco will stay on your fingers making the fondant less sticky. This small amount of crisco makes it easier to get the fondant to stay in the mold and remove the excess. Then put the mold in the freezer for a hour or two. You will then be able to remove the snowflakes with no problem. Okay once in a while one will break but not often.

I wish I had read the other review before purchasing. Everything in that review is correct. The mold is too shallow to work with. What a waste. If I could give zero as a rating, I would have.
